WATER TAXI
The water taxi operates throughout the sailing season (April to October inclusive) depending on tide, weather and available staff.
The boatman can be contacted on 07879 624809 or VHF Channel 80.
Operating hours are Friday 5pm to 8pm, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 10am to 5pm
Fare is £1 per person each way, children and pets free
IMPORTANT - Due to the depth of water in the channel at low water springs, the launch may not be able to get out to the moorings, we cannot guarantee the service at these times. If you anticipate arriving or departing at low water springs you are advised to have your own means of getting to and from your mooring.
LADDERS
Ladders can be hired from the office at a cost of £5 per day or part thereof.
DIESEL
Diesel is available for sale at the chandlery for filling small containers and jerry cans. The nearest fuelling jetty is at Gosport Marina near the Harbour Entrance.
WASTE OIL & DIESEL DISPOSAL
Please dispose of any waste oil or diesel in the tank provided at the foot of the jetty. Please clear up any spillages and do not leave old filters in the trap - these should be put in a plastic bag and dispose dof in the council bins.
SCRUBBING GRID
WHERE IS IT?
The scrubbing grid is on the south east side of the jetty next to the low dinghy pontoon.
WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS
Due to the position of the scrubbing grid, if there are strong winds forecast from the South or South East it is not advisable to use it. Make sure to check the weather forecast and if in doubt, postpone.
TIDAL ACCESS
In most cases, a spring tide is needed when using the scrubbing grid. Be aware of the next tide and don't get neaped. It is impossible to predict how much water there will be on the grid on any specific tide; achieved tidal ranges against predictions can sometimes vary by as much as 2ft from one tide to another depending on atmospheric conditions.
However, we can help. If you telephone the office at high water the day before you are booked onto the grid, we will tell you the depth of water on the slipway. The depth on the slipway is always 18” less than that on the grid. This is the best indication of whether there will be sufficient water on the following tide.
WHEN WILL THE TIDE HAVE LEFT THE GRID OR HOW MUCH TIME DO WE HAVE?
Again, this is difficult to predict, it varies greatly with the size of the tide and the prevailing atmospheric conditions.
ELECTRICITY & WATER
Electricity is available from the jetty, there is a service bollard nearby. A freshwater tap is available under the jetty by the scrubbing grid ladder.
HIGH PRESSURE WASHER
We do not hire out the high pressure washer.
